IMPACT students take part in Night Out at Prairie View Christian Camp

Night Out

The IMPACT Student Support Services TRIO program at Cowley College held its first cultural event of the school year Wednesday by spending the evening at Prairie View Christian Camp in Arkansas City.

Sixty six students participated in the event, which consisted of a hayrack ride, bon fire, and roasting of hot dogs and smores.

The evening became cultural when employees in the IMPACT program asked the students from the big cities to roast their first hotdog over an open fire.

“This is a great way to bring the students together early in the semester and get them connected with fellow classmates,” said Jason O’Toole, director of the IMPACT program.

Along with O’Toole, Loretta Waldroupe, Roxanna James, Bev Manuszak, Dianne Flickinger, and Mark Flickinger helped make the evening a fun one for the students.

IMPACT is a federally funded Student Support Services Trio Program designed to help Cowley students succeed. They provide valuable services, including transfer visits, tutoring, IMPACT courses, career exploration with career previews, cultural trips, and laptop and calculator checkout program.
