Benefit Dinner raises over $1,500

Cowley College’s Academic Civic Engagement through Service (ACES) and Cowley Activity Awareness Team (CAAT) joined together to conduct a benefit Pulled Pork Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 17. The event raised more than $1,500 to purchase food supplies for Cowley County food banks.

“This was a combination of everyone taking care of the community,” ACES sponsor James Fry said. ”The students worked hard and did a great job with the event.”

The Ark City Optimists also volunteered their time, and Jay Warren handled the cooking.

The dinner consisted of pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, bread, and chocolate cake. A sit down lunch was offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the college’s Earle N. Wright Community Room, while carry out meals were picked up from 4:30 to 7 p.m. outside the north door of the Brown Center.
