Cowley College awards scholarships to students from 16 schools

 

The Student Services Department at Cowley College has awarded scholarships to the following students.

  • From Andale High School: Chelsea Blasi, daughter of Gregory and Vicky Blasi, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Endowment Scholarship. At Andale, she was involved in Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), Sacred Heart Tigers, and Student Senate. She plans to major in entrepreneur and business leadership.
    At Argonia High School: Shannon Pruitt is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. She is undecided on a major.
    At Arkansas City High School: Kevin Bilyeu is the recipient of a Pike Construction Scholarship. He plans to major in mechatronics.
    Nelly Conde, daughter of Abel and Maria Conde, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Endowment Scholarship. She plans to major in dental hygiene.
    Ashlynn Hughes, daughter of Kerry and Lance Hopkins, and Jeff Hughes, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Endowment Scholarship. At ACHS, she was president for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), vice president for FCCLA, and received awards for her involvement in the Work Ethics program. She plans to major in business administration.
    Britney Widener, daughter of Scott and Stephanie Widener, is the recipient of an Arkansas City American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship. At ACHS, she was president of the French Club, was a teacher’s aide, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also on the honor roll and plans to major in science.
  • From Belle Plaine High School: Brittany Balsters, daughter of David and Tammy Balsters, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, she participated in basketball, softball, volleyball, dance, SADD, Student Council, Letterman’s Club, the National Honor Society, and was the football team manager. She was named a KU Honor’s Scholar and was the class valedictorian. She plans to major in pre-dentistry.
    Haley Crowe is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, she was involved in band, softball, FCCLA, FLC, and SADD. She also received a Kansas Star Scholarship and Cowley Dean’s Scholarship and plans to major in criminal justice.
    Brandon Golightley, son of Kenneth and Kelly Golightly, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, he participated in football, basketball, FBLA, and Skills USA. He was a member of the Honor Roll and the recipient of a Kansas Star and Belle Plaine Alumni Scholarship. He plans to major in automotive.
    Taila Lewis, daughter of Garry and Wende Lewis, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, she was involved in Student Council, FLC, SADD, basketball, and was a Kansas Honor Scholar. She plans to major in graphic design.
    Dakota Richardson, son of Jackie Lynn Richardson, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. He plans to major in criminal justice.
  • From Caldwell High School: Rachel Chambers, daughter of Teresa and DeWayne Chambers, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Caldwell, she was involved in band, vocal choir, the all school play, Bigs, Forensics, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in liberal arts.
  • From Campus High School: Angela Breth, daughter of David and Joenia Breth, and David and Peggy Taylor, is the recipient of a Duck Dash 2010 Scholarship. At Campus, she was the yearbook editor in chief, and was involved in Student Council, SADD, Quill and Scroll, the National Honor Society, and was the basketball team manager. She plans to major in web design.
  • From Derby High School: Jessica Elliott is the recipient of a Kansas All-Star Team Scholarship.
  • From Garden Plain High School: Kristin Seiwert, daughter of Mark and Patricia Seiwert, is the recipient of a Daniel Stark Chemistry Scholarship. At Garden Plain, she participated in KAYS, SADD, Rachel’s Challenge, the National Honor Society, and was the junior class president and senior class treasurer. She was named to the Principal’s Honor Roll and High Honor Roll as well as being named a Wendy’s High School Heisman finalist. She plans to major in pre-medicine.
  • From Goddard High School: Laura Petersburg, daughter of Mark and Deb Petersburg, is the recipient of a Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At Goddard, she was involved in choir, orchestra, KAY, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in nursing.
  • From Mulvane High School: Bethany Thrash, daughter of Dennis and Tammy Thrash, is the recipient of a Kansas All-Star Scholarship. At Mulvane, she was involved in soccer, wrestling, Thespians, Circle of Friends, jazz band, marching band, Drama Club, and art. She is undecided on a major.
  • From Ponca City (OK) High School: Kelsea Barr, daughter of Brian and Kim Bufford, and Steve and Tali Barr, is the recipient of a Carpenter and Vickers Scholarship. She plans to major in pre-law.
  • From Rio Rancho High School: Aza Keraly, daughter of Lee and Tracy Keraly, is the recipient of a Warren Kelly Endowment Scholarship. She plans to major in sports management.
  • From Sedan High School: Amanda Jones, daughter of Pam and the late Junior Jones, is the recipient of a Kirke W. Dale Trust Scholarship. At Sedan, she was involved in band, Student Council, and FCCLA, She received a Kansas State High School Citizenship award and plans to major in social work.
  • From Wellington High School: Lauren Reyes, daughter of Kim Reyes-Etter and Kip Etter, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Wellington, she participated in the marching band, concert band, cheerleading, FFA, FCCLA, Student Council, golf, and FCA. She received awards in cheerleading, FFA and band. She plans to major in elementary education.
    Brittany Walker, daughter of Jason Walker and Amber Roper, is the recipient of an Endowment Association Scholarship. At Wellington, she participated in volleyball, FFA, and FCCLA. She plans to major in criminal justice.
    Bailey Walker, daughter of Stacy Bright, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Wellington, she was involved in volleyball, cheerleading, FCA, and SADD> She plans to major in social work.
    Jenna Auzat, daughter of Mark Auzat and Lisa Meridith, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. She plans to major in business administration.
    Jennie Avalos, daughter of Juanita Avalos, is the recipient of a Kansas All-Star Scholarship. At Wellington, she was involved in SADD, Student Council, softball, volleyball, and basketball. She plans to major in pre-nursing.
    Cassandra Easterly, daughter of Shawn and Becky Easterly, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Wellington, she participated in FFA and Circle of Friends. She plans to major in social work.
    Jessica Russell, daughter of Greg and Buffy Russell, is the recipient of a Boyer Trust Fund Scholarship. At Wellington, she was involved in Student Council and the National Honor Society. She was a Kansas University Honor Scholar and a Student of the Month. She plans to major in pre-pharmacy.
    Jennifer Smith, daughter of Brad and Sharon Smith, is the recipient of an Endowment Association Scholarship. At Wellington, she participated in volleyball, drama, and FCCLA. She plans to major in social work.
  • From Winfield High School: Stacey Rowley, daughter of Teresa Rowley, and Jim and Ramona Rowley, is the recipient of a Pat Lawson Tyler Title 3 Scholarship. At Winfield, she was involved in softball, Business Professionals of America, Art and Honors Society, and DECA. She was named to the Honor Roll and received Staff Choice Awards. She plans to major in non-destructive testing.
  • From The American School: Heather Ashley, daughter of Ronald Hutchison, is the recipient of a Zeller Motor Company Scholarship. She plans to major automotive technology.
