Space available for Golden Tiger trips

 

There is still time to reserve a spot for one of Cowley College’s Golden Tigers’ trips planned in 2015.

Golden Tiger trips being offered are Dewey and Tulsa, OK on Tuesday, April 14, and Greensburg, KS on Tuesday, May 12. Space also remains available for the Golden Tigers trip to Hawaii in October. This trip features a 7- night cruise on the NCL Pride of America ship.

Information on the trips:

  • Tuesday, April 14 - Dewey and Tulsa, OK. The tour starts at the Tom Mix Museum and Western Theatre. The museum has a large collection of personal property of the silent movie cowboy and old silent movies can be watched in the theatre. The group will also enjoy visiting the Dewey Hotel Museum with period furnishings, glassware, clothing and rare photographs of early day life of the area. After lunch the group will head to Tulsa to see exhibits at the Gilcrease Museum. Depart at 7 a.m. and return by 8:30 p.m. Cost is $50 and includes lunch.
  • Tuesday, May 12 – Greensburg, Kansas. Following a tornado in 2007, 95% of Greensburg was destroyed. Today they have rebuilt one of the greenest cities in the United States. The first stop will be at the Big Well Museum and Visitor’s Center. This famous well is one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas. In addition to touring a Silo Eco-Home we will also tour several buildings including the Kiowa County Hospital and Kiowa County School. Lunch will be served at the 5.4.7 Arts Center. This building is the first LEED Platinum building in Kansas and utilizes wind and solar power. Depart at 6:45 a.m. and return around 8 p.m. Cost is $50.00 and includes lunch.
  • The Golden Tigers have planned a trip to Hawaii in 2015. This trip features a 7- night cruise on the NCL Pride of America ship. The group will depart on Friday, October 2nd and spend the first night in Honolulu. The group will have the opportunity to tour Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, National Cemetery of the Pacific and other sites before boarding the cruise ship. The cruise ship will make stops in Maui, Hilo, Kona and Kauai to explore the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. After departing the cruise ship the group will enjoy visiting Oahu’s North Shore. Saturday evening the group will enjoy a special farewell dinner. As you can see, there is something for everyone – tropical flowers, volcanoes, memorials, historic sights, black sand beaches and more.
