Retiring TRIO/IMPACT members recognized at regional banquet

impactBev Manuszak and Kathy Witte, who are retiring from Cowley College, were recently given a MO-KAN-NE retirement award at the regional banquet in Kansas City on April 2.

Manuszak’s last day will be June 17 and Witte will be retiring August 1.

Manuszak has been an esteemed member of the TRIO/IMPACT department for 16 years. Over the years, she contributed greatly to the organization.

Before coming to work at Cowley College, Manuszak served as the Family and Consumer Science instructor for 32 years with the local school district, USD 470. She experienced many successes in that position before bringing her expertise and wisdom to Cowley. While at TRIO/IMPACT, she served as the Coordinator/Counselor assisting students in numerous manners.

“Bev has coordinated many educational activities for our students that reveal the bigger world for them,” Dianne Flickinger, English specialist stated. “If students say they cannot do something, Bev is quick to inform and remind students that they are capable. She has done the same for her colleagues. Bev spends many hours listening to students and learning much from them. Bev says students give her hope for the future.”

Witte began working at Cowley College in 1997 as the library assistant and also worked in the business office for a short term. While Witte has not been an employee for the IMPACT/TRIO program for a long time, she has made a tremendous impression.

Prior to working at Cowley, Witte worked in the office for USD 463 Udall grade school for 10 years.

“I do not know where to begin,” Roxanna James, director of the TRIO/IMPACT program said. “Kathy brought with her knowledge and great work ethics. She has been a joy to work with. I do not know how I would have made it through my first year as director without her.”
