PTK donates books

PTK donates $500 to area libraries

As a commitment to scholarship and service, two of the pillars of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Cowley PTK Chapter recently donated $500 to the libraries of Winfield High School and Ark City Middle School to support literacy efforts.

The funds were raised over several years from book drives which pledged a portion of the proceeds to support reading programs. PTK officers decided to distribute the funds locally due to the budget constraints faced by many school districts. Donated funds will be used to purchase popular print and audio book sets that, when used in conjunction, have been shown to increase fluency, speed, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
