PBL caps successful year at National Leadership Conference

PBLStudents in Cowley College’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organization took home several awards at the Phi Beta Lambda National Conference held June 24-27 in Chicago, IL.

Participants from across the United States attended the conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 55 business and business-related competitive events.

Zachary Graham, Austin Hendrickson, Ian Lamb, Michael Meloy and Edna Vega from Cowley College received national recognition at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program on June 27. Lamb competed in Sports Management and Marketing and brought home second place. Lamb also placed eighth in Marketing Concepts. Michael Meloy competed in Accounting Principles and placed fifth. The team of Graham, Hendrickson, Meloy, and Vega competed in Parliamentary Procedures and placed 10th.

Ashleigh Huck, Tanner Hottinger, John Donaldson, and Alexis Phakornkham all made it to the final rounds but fell just short of a top-10 finish.

The four awards and second place finish were the highest in Sarah Mathews’ seven years as Cowley College PBL advisor.

“I am extremely proud of all my students and their dedication this year,” Mathews said. “Their hard work definitely paid off this last week at Nationals.”
