Cowley to host Kansas Strong Energy workshops on October 18

Cowley College will host the Kansas Strong Energy workshop for kindergarten through eighth grade teachers on Saturday, October 18 at the school’s Earle N. Wright Community Room in Arkansas City.

Licensed teachers will be provided a $50 stipend for attending and will receive free materials to implement the lessons in the classroom. They will also receive professional development hours.

Kansas Strong curriculum offerings include: Fossils to Fuel 1 (K-5), Fossils to Fuel 2 (K-5), and Petro Active (middle school). Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. and the workshops will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Kansas Strong is an organization sponsored by the Kansas Oil and Gas Industry which is looking to educate students across Kansas about fossil fuels, oil production, energy, etc.
