Cowley College presents DodgeBallalah

It’s hard to believe that a short 10 years ago audiences were introduced to Patches O’Houlihan’s simple training philosophy; “if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”

Ten years later, Cowley College is hosting the first annual Arkalalah Dodgeball Tournament, DodgeBallalah… Thursday, Oct. 23 inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.

The family-friendly event begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. Spectators and fans are admitted free and are welcome to show their team spirit by sporting banners, team jerseys and face and body paints.

Put together a team consisting of six to 10 players, 18 and older, raise the $80 team entry fee then register and pay online at Register before Oct. 10 to receive a free commemorative t-shirt. The deadline to register is Oct. 21.

Along with bragging rights, winners of the tournament will receive a bag of prizes and a trophy. Prizes will also be awarded for unique uniforms and sportsmanship. The steps are simple and the training intense, but remember this simple O’Houlihan tip: “If you are going to become true dodgeballers, then you’ve got to learn the five d’s of dodgeball: dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge!” Hope to see you there.

Checks can be made payable to Cowley College, C/O Marketing, 125 S. Second, Arkansas City, KS 67005.
