More than 100 people attend CTE Open House

CTE Open HouseProviding the community an opportunity to tour its facilities, Cowley College’s Career and Technical Education Department conducted an Open House event on Saturday, Sept. 27.

More than 100 people took advantage of the free tours of the CTE Department’s Automotive, Machine and Tool, Manufacturing (Mechatronics), Non-Destructive Testing, and Welding facilities.

“It was a great way to raise awareness of our program and meet with prospective students,” CTE Department Chair Joe Clasen said.

Along with the tour, free ice cream was provided and prizes were awarded. Prizes included five tire rotations, five oil changes, and five alignments from Cowley College automotive classes.

Participants also had a chance to purchase opportunities to dunk a Cowley instructor in the dunk tank, while a drawing was held for a guitar assembled and logo’d by the machining students of Cowley College.
Net proceeds from the event will benefit Cowley College’s Career and Technical Education programs.
