Cowley hosts successful Health & Human Services Day


HHS DayLearning about Cowley College’s exciting and dynamic educational programs, 80 individuals took part in the Health & Human Services Day event Wednesday at the school’s main campus in Arkansas City.

Participants had an opportunity to interact with faculty and current Cowley students, as well as explore hands-on displays from local employers.

Highlights included: Airbrush make-up demonstrations and tutorials, Criminal Justice state-of-the-art use of force simulator, CPR and medical simulation demonstrations, special effects makeup hands-on sessions, and a Controlled Force hand-to-hand defensive tactics exhibition.

A question and answer session with S.W.A.T. and Controlled Force members was also available, while student patrol officers escorted interested potential students to Ireland Hall for tours and a simulator demonstration.

Employer displays and demonstrations included: Local Professional Salons, EMS and Fire Services, Police and Sheriff Departments, Hospitals and Non-Profits, and K9 and S.W.A.T. Units.

“It was a very exciting day and attendees enjoyed the demonstrations,” admissions director Helen Nakos said. “The Controlled Force hand-to-hand defensive tactics drew a crowd and everyone viewed the K-9 demonstration.”

Admissions served light snacks during the event.
