Benefit dinner raises over $1,400

Cowley College’s Academic Civic Engagement through Service (ACES) and Cowley Activity Awareness Team (CAAT) joined together to conduct a benefit Pulled Pork Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The event raised more than $1,400 towards a future food packaging event, in which all food packaged will stay local to help surrounding communities, food banks, and ministry meals.

The Ark City Optimists also volunteered their time to help with the event.

“I would like to thank everyone that came out for the event,” ACES sponsor James Fry said. “The students in ACES and CAAT also did a great job.”

The dinner consisted of pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, bread, and chocolate cake. A sit down lunch was offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the college’s Earle N. Wright Community Room, while carry out meals were picked up from 4:30 to 7 p.m. outside the north door of the Brown Center.
