Student work to be on display at Life: Through Words and Lens

Life: Through Words and Lens is a compilation of works from digital photography, communications practicum, creative and script writing students. This showcase comes together at the end of each semester as a demonstration of each student's portfolio of works broken down by area of study. This semester’s event will take place Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

"Since many of our students cross over between these classes, it gives them the opportunity to see how their work compares to others while allowing them a peek at what to expect as they advance through their college career," Meg Smith, Cowley College director of journalism and digital photography instructor said.

Students in the various classes invite friends, family, coworkers, faculty, staff and the community to come to the Wright Room for an evening of reading, listening and looking at artwork, poetry and films. "This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to get a taste of what our students create in a semester,” Smith said.

It allows the public the prospect of scoping out a potential class for personal or professional development and business managers get a sneak peek at the talent available locally for internships and job openings, Smith added. Members of the community who are interested in learning more about photography, poetry/creative writing and/or video editing can enroll in a class to beef up their skills without needing to pursue a degree.

"As an instructor and a member of the Cowley Community, I would like to extend an invitation to join us in celebrating the talented students of Cowley College. Please join us for a wonderful evening, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wright Room," Smith said.
