Cowley Theatre Department set to present “The Velveteen Rabbit”

"The Velveteen Rabbit"Cowley College’s Theatre Department is busy preparing to present the new adaptation of the classic children’s story “The Velveteen Rabbit” by Margery Williams.

The production will feature live actors, puppets, and beautiful music performed onstage by Cowley music student Holly Brizendine. There will be three performances for area school children, and one public performance, Tuesday, December 2  at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the public performance are $3 for general admission, $2 for children under 12, and $2 for Cowley College students.

Under the Blue Star program, the public performance is free for currently serving or transitioning military personnel and their immediate family (service member does not need to be present to take advantage of this opportunity).

All tickets will be available the night of the show, cash or check only, with all proceeds going to benefit Cowley’s Act One drama club’s travel and activity fund.

The production runs approximate 40 minutes, and is recommended for children ages 6 and up. While “The Velveteen Rabbit” contains plenty of fun and silliness and features a very happy ending, the play does include moments of grief and loss which may be emotionally challenging for some young children. Parental guidance is suggested.
