Cowley College awards scholarships to students from 28 schools


The Student Services Department at Cowley College has awarded scholarships to the following students.


From Ark City Christian Academy:

Nathan Stanley, son of David and Jodie Stanley, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.


From Arkansas City High School:

Paige Bates, daughter of Jeana Johnson, is the recipient of a Hall of Scholars Endowment Scholarship. At ACHS, she was named to the National Society of High School Scholars and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She plans to major in pre-nursing.


Brock Blubaugh, son of Jeffery and Patricia Blubaugh, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in FFA, Work Ethics, and track. He plans to major in aviation.


Dimar De Leon, son of Oscar De Leon and Amelia Lopez, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in track and field, soccer, and School Counts. He plans to major in accounting.


Hannah Dixon, daughter of Lori Whitford, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At ACHS, she participated in FFA and FCA. She is undecided on a major.


Edgar Fuentes, son of Pablo and Francisca Fuentes, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At ACHS, he participated in band and Scholar’s Bowl. He received a National Honor Society and Work Ethics awards. He plans to major in pre-law.


Payton Hayes, daughter of Mandi Scott, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. She plans to major in business administration.


Jason Littou, son of Boyd and Valerie Littou, is the recipient of a John and Olive Kappler Scholarship. He plans to major in Non-Destructive Testing.


Luke Kuffler, son of Mike and Theresa Kuffler, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in soccer, track, orchestra, National Honor Society, and Work Ethics. He plans to major in pre-engineering.


Ronnie McClellan III, son of Ronnie and Mary McClellan, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. He plans to major in criminal justice.


Mason McDowell, son of George and Heidi McDowell, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in football, basketball, track and field, Student Council, National Honor Society, and School Counts. He is a member of the KU Honors Program and is an academic scholar. He plans to major in elementary education.


Laken Musson, daughter of Jim and Wanda Musson, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in Work Ethics and was a member of the Honor Roll. She plans to major in pre-dentistry.


Timothy Nickel, son of Rebekah Esparza, is the recipient of a Career and Technical Education Department Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in wrestling and was the school mascot. He plans to major in welding.


Madison Scheurich, daughter of Greg and Melissa Scheurich, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At ACHS, she participated in basketball, track and field, cross country, and leadership. She is a member of the honor roll and plans to major in nursing.


Christopher Smith, son of Janvea Smith, is the recipient of a John and Olive Kappler Scholarship. At ACHS, he was involved in wrestling and football. He has a GPA of 3.4 and plans to major in non-destructive testing.


Danielle Sorenson, daughter of David Sorenson and Melanie Moore, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. At ACHS, she participated in tennis, debate, One Act Play, musical theatre, soccer, Honors English Society, and drill team. She is undecided on a major.


Brailea Tipton, daughter of Chad and Brandy Flower, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At ACHS, she participated in Student Council, FFA, track and field, Drama Club, 4H, musicals and plays, the National Honor Society, and Operation Bulldog Supplies for the Stars and Stripes. She is a member of the KU Honors Program, and the Honor Roll. She plans to major in criminal justice.


Jacob Wells, son of David and Jami Sorenson, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. He plans to major in education.


From Belle Plaine High School:

Victoria Fox, daughter of Charles and Marilyn Fox, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. She is undecided on a major.


Rebecca O’Daniel, daughter of Jim O’Daniel, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, she is involved in FLC, FCCLA, and the National Honor Society. She is undecided on a major.


Haley Yarbrough, daughter of Roy and Loretta Yarbrough, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, she was involved in Pep Band, Concert Band, Singers, Public Safety Club, softball, Art Club, National Honor Society, and was the basketball and volleyball manager. She is a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in criminal justice.


Gabe Yonash, son of Daniel and Jamie Yonash, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Belle Plaine, he was involved in football, track, Letterman’s Club, Foreign Language Club, FBLA, and FCCLA. He plans to major in journalism.


From Bishop Carroll High School:

Sidney Potter, daughter of Justin Potter and Toni Johnson, is the recipient of an Instrumental Music Scholarship. At Bishop Carroll, she is involved in band, Praise Team, God Squad, golf, and softball. She plans to major in business.


From Blue Stem High School:

Shayla Cornell, daughter of Darrin and Angela Cornell, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Blue Stem, she is involved in volleyball, cheer, track, choir, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She plans to major in social work.


From Cedar Vale High School:

Natalie Haden, daughter of Joel and Trishadee Haden, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. At Cedar Vale, she participated in volleyball, band, Student Council, Mathlete, Bigs and Littles, National Honor Society, and Stand of the Silent. She is a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and plans to major in pre-pharmacy.


From Clearwater High School:

Megan Blasi, daughter of Kim Blasi, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Clearwater, she is involved in basketball, cheerleading, Link Crew, Student Council, KAYS, SADD, Drama, Spanish Club, prom committee, National Honor Society, and the Honor Roll. She plans to major in social work.


Jessica Koch, daughter of Ray Koch and Lynette Struthers-Koch, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Clearwater, she is involved in band, cross country, track, and is the basketball team manager. She plans to major in business.


From Columbus Unified High School:

Austin Napier, son of Eric and Ashley Napier, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Columbus, he is involved in football, baseball, wrestling, and culinary arts. He is undecided on a major.


From Douglass High School:

Janna Benson, daughter of Don and Judy Benson, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Douglass, she is involved in band, softball, basketball, Student Council, KAY Club, and the National Honor Society. She is a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in criminal law.


Cashlyn Munroe, daughter of Marc and Hallie Munroe, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Douglass, she is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, FCCLA, SADD, KAY, Spirit Club, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in radiology.


From Elk Valley High School:

Kaitlyn Walker, daughter of Robert and Jennifer Walker, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Elk Valley, she participated in FFA, FCCLA, Scholars Bowl, SADD, Student Council, choir, math relays, FBLA, Drama, and the National Honor Society. She is a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is undecided on a major.

 

From Home School:

Debra Dorrell, daughter of Joshua Dorrell and Amanda Sparks, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. She plans to major in automotive technology.


Madelynn Mill, daughter of Jason and Darla Mill, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. She is involved in 4-H, shooting sports, and the Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program. She plans to major in accounting.


From Lakin High School:

Clay Davenport, son of Cary and Jill Davenport, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Lakin, he participates in football, track, band, Scholar’s Bowl, and the National Honor Society. He plans to major in veterinary medicine.


From Manhattan High School:

Kyrstyn Kinzie, daughter of Marty and Jacinda Kinzie, is the recipient of a Spirit Squad Scholarship. At Manhattan, she was involved in cheerleading, Spirit Club, FFA, and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in early childhood development.


From Mulvane High School:

Aldin Bise, son of James and Connie Bise, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Mulvane, he was involved in soccer and bowling. He plans to major in automotive technology.


Troy Carlson, son of Chris and Karma Carlson, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Mulvane, he is involved in Debate, Forensics, and Theatre. He is undecided on a major.


Dalaney Flickinger, daughter of Greg and Cindy Flickinger, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Mulvane, she was involved in FBLA, the school newspaper, and was the football team manager. She is a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in either business or education.


Zena Hall, daughter of Peggy Hall, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Mulvane, she is involved in cheerleading, soccer, KAY, and Student Council. She plans to major in elementary education.


Torri Spencer, daughter of Dale and Tawni Spencer, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. At Mulvane, she is involved in Forensics, Women’s Choir, Theatre, and Show Choir. She plans to major in elementary education.


Kallee Walton, daughter of Shawn and Amanda Walton, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At Mulvane, she is involved in Show Choir, Theatre, jazz band, marching band, concert band, Forensics, and soccer. She plans to major in pre-nursing.


From Newkirk (OK) High School:

Mallory Cox, daughter of Kim Cox, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. She is undecided on a major.


From Oxford High School:

Lakin Cook, daughter of Nathan and Tricia Cook, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. At Oxford, she is involved in cheerleading, basketball, track, FCA, KAY, and Honors Choir. She is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in dental hygiene.


Kellcie Norris, daughter of Jim Norris and Peggy Downing, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Oxford, she is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, Student Council, and elementary art aide. She is a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in elementary education.


Jorden Shelton, daughter of Melissa Shelton, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Oxford, she is involved in FFA, KAY, football manager, basketball manager, baseball manager, and Art Club. She is undecided on a major.


From Praise Valley Christian High School:

Katrina Bloyer, daughter of Mark and Joyce Bloyer, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. She plans to major in psychology.


From Preston Trails Academy High School:

Caleb Preston, son of Shane and Judy Preston, is the recipient of a Donald and Wilda Patterson Endowment Scholarship. At Preston Trails, he was involved in basketball and baseball. He plans to major in welding.


From Salina Central High School:

Josue Rodriguez-Tabares, son of Armando and Sabina Rodriguez, is the recipient of a Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship. At Salina Central, he was involved in soccer, Spanish Club, and Scholar’s Bowl. He plans to major in accounting.


From Sedgwick High School:

Tristan Hendrickson, daughter of Tim and Michelle Hendrickson, is the recipient of a Tiger Academic Scholarship. At Sedgwick, she is involved in Bigs in Schools, softball, cross country, and powerlifting. She plans to major in liberal arts.


From South Haven High School:

Essence Ratzlaff, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. At South Haven, she is involved in cheerleading, color guard, Jets, choir, band, Student Council, and school plays. She plans to major in music education.


From Syracuse High School:

Sarah Bonnell, daughter of Elizabeth Brownlee, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At Syracuse, she is involved in track, powerlifting, film, drawing, ceramics, and Scholar’s Bowl. She plans to major in graphic design.


From Wellington High School:

Dylan Jones, son of Jeremy and Christa Jones, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. At Wellington, he is involved in FCA, Student Technology Support, and National Honor Society. He is a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and plans to major in computer information systems.


From West Elk High School:

Taivyn Tillapaugh, daughter of Shannon Tillapaugh, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. At West Elk, she is involved in track, FCA, Skills USA, FBLA, FCCLA, and basketball and volleyball team manager. She plans to major in cosmetology.


From Wichita East High School:

Julian Kincaid, son of Linn and Susan Kincaid, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. At East, he is involved in Quill and Scroll, JROTC, National Art Honor Society, and National Honor Society. He is a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in English.


From Wichita Southeast High School:

Paige Hale, daughter of Claude and Monica Hale, is the recipient of a Danceline Scholarship. At Southeast, she was involved in dance, softball, Drama, Theatre, and National Honor Society. She is a member of the Honor Roll and plans to major in elementary education.


From Wichita North High School:

Jada Sutton-Martindale, daughter of Nick and RayLynn Ladish, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. At North, she is involved in FCCLA, and Theatre Troupe. She plans to major in secondary education.


Lexus Waltermire, daughter of Steven and Melody Waltermire, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At North, she is involved in Spirit Club. She plans to major in art.


Erin Young, daughter of Jill Young, is the recipient of an ACT Scholarship. At North, she was involved in choir and Student Council. She plans to major in psychology.


From Winfield High School:

Hanna Wingett, daughter of Angie Wingett, is the recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in Work Ethics, yearbook, Spirit Squad, Link Crew, basketball, soccer, track, cross country, and the National Honor Society. She is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in business.


Baylee Bird, daughter of Christopher Overlin and Dawn Huffman, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in band and is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll. She plans to major in accounting.


Sara Hizar, daughter of Donald and Victoria Hizar, is the recipient of a Pageant Scholarship. At WHS, she was involved in SADD, FCC, Link Crew, Student Council, Spirit Squad, National Honor Society, and math aide. She is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in pre-nursing.


Pearl Hongphakdy, daughter of Khamphay Hongphakdy, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in Art Club, SADD, Link Leader, Work Ethics, and Film Club. She is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in pre-pharmacy.


Angel Jones, daughter of Terry Alcorn and Peggy Jones, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in volleyball, cross country, and basketball. She plans to major in psychology.


Bryce Ledford, son of Kinnie and Michelle Ledford, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At WHS, he is involved in soccer, wrestling, and HOSA. He is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in pre-medicine.


Whitney Martin, daughter of Jeff and Tracy Martin, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in art, choir, Link Crew, Work Ethics, and the Health Careers Program. She is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in pre-nursing.


Jasmine Nichols, daughter of Jeston Nichols and Della Crane, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship. At WHS, she was involved in cheerleading and Art Club. She was named to the Honor Roll and plans to major in graphic design.


Aspen Sanders, daughter of Matthew and Heather Anderson, is the recipient of a Hall of Scholars Scholarship. She plans to major in biology.


Tea Schmitt, daughter of Jeff Schmitt and LaReina Waldorf, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in band, yearbook, and Art Club. She is a member of the Honor Roll and is undecided on a major.


Kolbi Wampler, daughter of Jeff and Shari Wampler, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At WHS, she was involved in swimming and was a member of the Honor Roll. She is undecided on a major.


Ty White, son of Dennis White, is the recipient of an ACES Scholarship. At WHS, he is involved in football, band, and cooking. He is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and plans to major in criminal justice.


Allison Willis, daughter of Dennis and Shelly Willis, is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. At WHS, she is involved in volleyball, softball, orchestra, Art Club, yearbook, Work Ethics, and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in art.
