Art Club members take part in Final Friday event

Final Friday

Students in Cowley College’s Art Club had an opportunity to have their work displayed during the Final Friday event held at City Arts in Wichita, KS on Friday, Jan. 29.

Final Friday happens the last Friday of each month. As part of the event, art galleries, museums, restaurants and retail shops around Wichita stay open late and welcome visitors.

“Final Fridays are a great opportunity for our students to take a step into a larger world and see what their peers are currently producing,” Dykes said. “It allows them to see what is trending and what niches exist they can explore. Some students even get the opportunity to see what it is like to sell a piece of art in the context of a real gallery setting.”

Art Club students are planning to show again on the final Friday in March at the Frame Guild in Wichita’s Old Town District.

“Events like these help reinforce the art principles we teach, boost confidence for the students, and let the larger community see what amazing thing our students are capable of,” Dykes said.
