Students in ACES program log over 16,000 hours of service


AcesRecent numbers showed students in Cowley College’s ACES (Academic Civic Engagement through Service) organization logged 16,439 total hours of service during the 2014-15 school year.

ACES students volunteered to assist numerous service clubs and organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Early Birds Lions Club, Kiwanis, Optimist, Soroptimist, Crops of Righteousness, Humane Society, Angels in the Attic, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts, Arkansas City High School Jag program, Jr Leaders of 4H, Kansas Veteran’s Home, Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, Safe Homes, Tumbleweeds Car Show, Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce, Manna Ministry, Arkansas City Recreation Center, and Ministry Meals. 

“It is nice to know we are making a difference in the community,” ACES coordinator James Fry said. “I enjoy seeing the students work to accomplish things and to see how thankful the community is.”
