Endowment changes name

In a recent effort to update the name and more clearly reflect its mission, the Cowley County Community College Endowment Association has recently been renamed the Cowley College Foundation.

The Foundation was established in 1968 and during the early years focused on property acquisition, program development and endowing scholarships. Over the years, the depth and breadth of the Foundation has expanded to incorporate an annual campaign, planned giving program and development of capital campaigns.

“The name change more accurately reflects the scope of the work we do now,” Ben Schears, Executive Director for the Foundation and Cowley College's Vice President for Institutional Advancement said. “We’re excited about a bright future and this marks the first significant step toward expanding the reach and impact of the Foundation.”

Today, the Foundation is made up of three professional staff and a 15 member independent board of directors - all dedicated toward fulfilling the mission of the Foundation. The name change will not impact the daily operations of the Foundation, but community members will begin seeing the new logo and name on all materials.

Schears also noted, “Supporters who have included the words “Endowment Association” in their estate plans will not need to change any legal documents.”

In addition to the name change, a new mobile-friendly Foundation website (built by a group of entrepreneurial Cowley alumni who started the web development group Bro Corp United) is in the final stages of development and will be released soon.
