Tickets on sale for Awesome 80's Prom

Tickets on sale for Awesome 80’s PromCome prepared to party like a 1980’s Brat Pack Movie during the Act One Drama Club’s presentation of Awesome 80’s Prom held at 7:30 p.m. February 16-18 in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

Awesome 80’s Prom is a blast-from-the-past party in an interactive show that was created in the East Village of New York City.

"If you love 80’s movies, you will love this show,” Cara Kem, Cowley College interim theatre director said. “It has all the favorite character types from the popular films, and film lovers will recognize familiar situations unfold if they watch carefully. If you come a second night and sit somewhere else, you will catch a few jokes you didn't see before."

Kem said the show was a favorite of hers while living in New York City. Awesome 80’s Prom was a hit for more than decade and won the 2006 Improvisational Theater Award for Best Interactive Show.

Prom characters are inspired by 1980’s movie favorites from the Captain of the Football Team to the Asian Exchange Student, from the Geek to the sexy Head Cheerleader. Everyone is competing for Prom King and Queen and the audience decides who wins. Travel back in time and join the breakdance circle, or just sit back and watch the '80s drama unfold.

General Admission tickets are $10, Student and Blue Star Military Families tickets are $8. Cowley Gold Cards will be accepted. Tickets may be purchased at the Cowley Box Office in the Brown Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They may also be purchased at the Visual & Performing Arts Department Office (lower level, north end of hall in Brown Center) during regular business hours.
