Moffatt conducts TIG Boot CampCowley College welding instructor Bob Moffatt recently conducted the first of two TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Boot Camps June 4-9 in Arkansas City.

The initial Boot Camp is teaching the basics of TIG welding, while the second TIG Boot Camp scheduled for June 19-23 will get into more advanced TIG welding.

The Boot Camps consist of 30 hours of training and housing in the dorms are included.

Moffatt said participants in the first Boot Camp hailed from Kansas, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, Montana, Washington, D.C., California, and New York.

After seeing the TIG welding videos Moffatt posted online at weld.com, Merritt Caviness traveled seven hours from his home in Iowa to take part in the Boot Camp.

“Welding plays a role in both jobs I do as a wind turbine technician and also working on a farm,” Caviness said. “The Boot Camp has motivated me to keep practicing and focusing on the basics of welding.”

Moffatt said he receives questions on TIG Welding from individuals around the world and over 100,000 subscribers view his content on www.weld.com.
