Allied Health Center offering fall classes

Cowley College’s Allied Health Center in Winfield is offering some exciting fall classes.

Cowley College has teamed with area Fire Departments to offer a Fire Science certificate program. The program will help meet the employment needs of local fire departments and is offering Firefighter I classes in Winfield on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.
Students that complete the program will receive multiple certifications and be prepared to enter the workforce as an entry-level firefighter.

An articulation agreement with Butler Community College’s Fire Science program is being developed to allow Cowley fire science graduates to complete their associate degrees.

Cowley is also offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10 p.m. The course is a pre-requisite for the Paramedic course. The EMT course consists of hands on lab work, classroom work with simulated patients, and ride time with local EMS Services. At the end of the course students will be ready for the certification exam.

Cowley’s nationally accredited Paramedic course will be offered in January. The course will prepare students to work as a paramedic.
