Alpha Gamma Upsilon conducts flood donation drive

Alpha Gamma Upsilon conducts flood donation driveThursday, September 1, Alpha Gamma Upsilon, Phi Theta Kappa’s Ark City chapter, delivered a full truck load to Mulvane Care and Share to be distributed to victims of the recent flooding.

When the honor society officers heard of the devastation caused by the flooding, they dove into action. President Ashley Huslig went door to door in Wichita asking for contributions as Vice President of Service Brittney McNown set up boxes in the Humanities and Natural Science offices for collections. Abigail Garcia, Vice President of Leadership, and Blake Graham, Committees Chairman, received permission from the local Walmart to establish a collection box at their store front.

Students, faculty, staff and administrators donated items such as paper goods, boxed foods, and linens. As the truck was being unloaded by advisors Deborah and Scott Layton, Deana of Mulvane Care and Share said, “You’re about to make me cry!” She expressed much gratitude for the student efforts.
