Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Alpha Gamma Upsilon, attends Honors in Action Conference in Lincoln, Nebraska

 

  • Brittney McNown and Blake Graham, two officers of Ark City’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Alpha Gamma Upsilon, and advisor Scott Layton attended the Kansas-Nebraska Region’s Honors in Action Conference in Lincoln, Nebraska from November 4 - 6.

     

    The conference focused on the current honors topic How the World Works: Global Perspectives. The students gained insight into planning, researching, and implementing an action project for the honors study topic.


    Students attended other informational sessions such as writing Hallmark Awards, participating in the College Project, and fundraising. Students also participated in several cultural events during the conference such as visiting the campus of the University of Nebraska, touring the state capitol building, and attending and Sheldon Art Gallery.


    The conference was highlighted by DeMoine Adams a former All American, All Academic Big 12, and NFL football player who spoke about getting into “Leader Shape.” He encourages students to reach their full potential and be winners in life by building character and embracing social responsibility.


    Alpha gamma Upsilon was joined by about 80 participants from across Kansas and Nebraska.
