PTK awareness campaign

PTK awareness campaignPhi Theta Kappa members with Ark City's Chapter, Alpha Gamma Upsilon, sparked an awareness campaign on Wednesday and Thursday, December 6 and 7, by passing out Smarties candy to students in the Brown Center, Galle Johnson and the McAtee Dining Center. Because the fall enrollment period will be closing at the end of the month, officers wanted to encourage everyone who received an invitation to join. In addition, they wanted to encourage those who aren't currently eligible to reach high and work for eligibility in the spring.

Invitations are sent out at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters to students who have completed 12 hours at Cowley and have a 3.5 or better GPA.

Each package of Smarties was wrapped in an information card about the benefits of membership and study tips that the officers wrote and wanted to share with other students going in to finals week.

It has been a busy week for the honors organization, and the students have ended the semester strongly. Officers met Monday night to work on the writing portion of their research project on in-state college tuition, which will be submitted regionally and internationally for Hallmark Awards. Tuesday night was the annual holiday party with food, fun and fellowship. Finally, they finished the week trying to spread the good news about the many benefits associated with being a part of this great organization.

The members are looking forward to participating in homecoming festivities when they come back in January.
