Concert Choir preparing for Sing It! Festival

The Cowley College Concert Choir is participating in the Sing It! Festival of choral music at Friends University in Wichita on Thursday, February 8. This is an all-day event, culminating in an evening concert at the Sebits Auditorium in the Riney Fine Arts Building on the Friends University campus.

Along with the Concert Choir, choirs from several Sedgwick County high schools will also participate. Each choir will present two selections for the concert, and all choirs will form one large ensemble to present two selections to end the concert.

This year’s clinician is Dr. Mitos Andaya-Hart, associate professor of choral music at Temple University. Along with rehearsing and conducting the mass choir, she will also spend time giving a choral clinic to each individual choir. In addition to the choral experiences, each school selects two students to participate in a vocal solo masterclass competition. The winner and runner-up will then present their solos at the evening concert.

The two students selected for Cowley College are: Jennifer Guzman--sophomore from Wichita, and Tristan Barragan—freshman from Wellington.
Tickets for the evening concert are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and students.
