Cowley College awards scholarships to students from 12 schools

The Student Services Department at Cowley College has awarded scholarships to the following students.

From Arkansas City High School:
Josie Krout, daughter of Jennifer Krout, is the recipient of a Dan Spangler Memorial Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in art, choir, and theatre. She plans to major in art.

Morgan Bruce, daughter of Phillip and Michelle Bruce, is the recipient of an Early Bird Lions Club/American Legion Scholarship. At ACHS, she was involved in tennis, Student Council, Kansas Association for Youth (KAY), and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in pre-dental hygiene.

From Central Burden High School:
Corey Firebaugh, son of Mark and Deb Firebaugh, is the recipient of a Robert Warrender Endowed Scholarship. At Central Burden, he participated in band, choir, honor band, and honor choir. He plans to major in music education.

From Derby High School:
Stefani Bruce is the recipient of a Duck Dash 2010 Scholarship. She plans to major in pre-physical therapy.

From Maize South High School:
Emily Wait, daughter of Phil and Melissa Wait, is the recipient of a Cowley Danceline Scholarship. At Maize South, she was involved in choir and the Pep-Club. She plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine.

From Maize Virtual Preparatory School:
Alexandria Leffel, daughter of Wayne and Laura Leffel, is the recipient of a Work Ethic Program Scholarship. At Maize Virtual, she participated in softball and was a member of the honor roll. She plans to major in pre-physical therapy.

From Newton High School:
Maria McGonigal, daughter of Theresa McGonigal, is the recipient of a Bedi Sehsuvaroglu Endowment Scholarship. At Newton, she participated in softball, debate, and volleyball. She received four academic letters and plans to major in pre-pharmacy.

From Oxford High School:
Blake Thurmond, son of Kristine Thurmond, is the recipient of a Duck Dash 2014 and Peg Paton Scholarship. At Oxford, he participated in baseball, WYCO, and KAY. He plans to major in business administration.

From Wellington High School:
Julian Cornejo, son of Jamie and Maria Cornejo, is the recipient of a Scott MacLaughlin Memorial Scholarship. At Wellington, he was president of the Drama Club, member of the National Honor Society, and named to the Principal’s Honor Roll. He plans to major in theatre.

From Wichita Heights High School:
Mickayla Murphy, daughter of Michael and Kathleen Murphy, is the recipient of a Duck Dash 2008 Scholarship. At Heights, she participated in J.A.G., and the step team. She plans to major in cosmetology.

From Wichita Southeast High School:
Anastasia Allen, daughter of Cheren Williams, is the recipient of a Dewell Family Scholarship. She plans to major in art.

From Wichita Northwest High School:
Amy Tracy, daughter of Travis and Crystal Tracy, is the recipient of an Eli Hilderbrand Memorial Scholarship. At Northwest, she was involved in cross country, track and field, choir, and drama class. She plans to major in physical education.

From Winfield High School:
Courtney Venn (Cain), daughter of Brad and Angie Ziegler, is the recipient of a Gene and Donella Cole Scholarship. She plans to major in nursing.
