New hires approved at Special Meeting of the Board


A Special Meeting of Cowley College’s Board of Trustees was held Monday, July 31 in the McAtee Dining Center. During the meeting, the Board approved seven new hires to begin employment on August 1, 2017.

New hires are: Daniel Brooks, automotive instructor; Garret Vickery, NDT instructor; Tanner Brock, dorm manager/intramural coordinator; Gary Downs, staff accountant; Michael McCune, custodian; Donna Walcher, cashier/accounts receivable generalist; and Valerie White, admissions coordinator.

In other matters:

  1. The Board accepted the resignations of Kristina Meseke as accounting specialist, effective July 21, and Jancye Sturd as admissions coordinator, effective August 4.
  2. Approved the decision to cover the cost of registration for the Sumner County Economic Development Center Director to attend the ACCT Leadership Congress September 25-28 in Las Vegas, NV, in order to take part in the college’s presentation on the expansion into Sumner County.
  3. Tabled discussion on Carver Park until the regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Monday, August 14.
  4. Cowley College president Dr. Dennis C. Rittle provided an update on the professional negotiations of the Faculty Master Agreement for the 2017-2018 academic year. Dr. Rittle said through some great dialogue five of six items have been successfully negotiated. “We have made a lot of progress and are optimistic we will reach an agreement,” Dr. Rittle said. “We want to do what is right for the community, the students, and the employees.”
