World renowned flautist and lecturer performs at Cowley College


World renowned flautist and lecturer performs at Cowley CollegeRenowned flautist Galen Abur Razzaq was the featured performer Wednesday afternoon inside Cowley College’s Robert Brown Theater. He provided those in attendance with an understanding and appreciation of jazz, along with its historical significance.

Abdur-Razzaq was accompanied by four other musicians that performed jazz sets in between Abdur-Razzaq’s lectures.

A flutist from Montclair, New Jersey, Abdur-Razzaq has performed for more than 30 years. He is a former student of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and a graduate of Rutgers University.

Abdur-Razzaq spoke of the many influential jazz musicians through history, such as Buddy Boldin, Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Charlie “Bird” Parker, and many more.
