Cowley College holds Swing for the Stars Charity Golf TournamentOn Saturday, September 23, the Mulvane-Beta Phi Upsilon chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society hosted its first annual Cowley College Swing for the Stars Charity Golf Tournament at Hidden Lakes Golf Course in Derby, KS. It was well attended with teams of local business and individuals, and raised more than $2,000 to help pay for student travel and conference fees.

The first place winners, pictured with Dr. Chad Killblane were the Standard Beverage Team One. Second place was taken by the Kansas Star Casino team and third place went to the Carson Bank team.

The BPU chapter would like to give special thanks to Cowley College Welding Instructor Mr. Bob Moffatt, who generously built the three fire pits that served as the first, second and third place prizes.

“His work was instrumental to the success of our inaugural tournament and we would like to thank him by offering a scholarship to Industrial Technology students,” Dr. Killblane said.

A portion of the proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to pay the PTK registration fees of IT students on a first come first served basis.
Sponsors included: Carson Bank, The Kansas Star Casino, Standard Beverage Corporation, Sue Wenger Relators, SOS Computers, Cowley College executive director of enrollment management Kristi Shaw, and of Cowley College and director of auxiliary services Shannon O’Toole.

“Your help was instrumental in making the tournament a success,” Dr. Killblane said. “Finally, we would like to thank all of the individuals who came out and made Saturday fun.”
