Help save a life. Give blood on Thursday, October 12

In the United States, someone needs a blood transfusion about every two seconds. On any given day, an average of 38,000 units of red blood cells are needed for hospital patients in the United States.

There is no substitute for human blood; it cannot be manufactured. Due to the recent flooding and other emergencies, blood banks have been seriously depleted. On Thursday, October 12, the American Red Cross needs your help. Please consider donating a small portion of your day and blood so that others may live.

The blood drive will be held in Cowley College’s Earle N. Wright Community Room from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 12.  Please contact Lea Newman at 620-441-5236 to schedule an appointment time to donate or go online to register at http://www.redcrossblood.org/give/drive/driveSearch.jsp.

Individuals can also complete their required health forms online the day of donation, prior to their appointment time. This will greatly improve the efficiency of the appointment.
