Harold Beck playing guitarHarry Beck, a recent graduate of Cowley College's Non-Destructive Testing program, and the Career and Technical Education Department's Student of the Year, was presented with a guitar as a gift from the department.

Hearing that Harry had to sell his guitar while balancing family, work, and school, Machine Tool instructor Ricky Squires, who had Harry in his Tech math class, wanted to do something nice for him.

“I have known Harry for years from the bands he has played in,” Squires said. “When I heard the news that he had been awarded the CTE student of the year, I contacted Garret Vickery and suggested that I could build him a guitar. The guitar is a kit that we purchased and I built it. Harry knew that I make guitars and asked if I would put my brand name on it. So it has RSG branding on it and it is called the Harry Beck Signature model which I laser engraved into the pickguard.”

Beck’s strong work ethic led to his recently being offered a summer internship at GE Engine Services located in Strother Field where he will be assisting the quality control division perform inspection on jet engine components.
