November 7, 2019
Cowley College’s Act One Drama Club is busy preparing for its adaptation of Han Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen at 7:30 p.m. December 6 in the Robert Brown Theatre. The story is a classic tale of loyalty, redemption, and love.
Tickets are on sale at www.cowley.edu/boxoffice. Tickets can also be purchased in Tracy Circle’s office located in the lower level of the Brown Center, or one and a half hour prior to the show.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for children/students and military with ID. Cowley College students and employees are admitted free with Cowley ID.
Join brave Gerda on her epic quest to save her brother from the icy allure of the mysterious Snow Queen and the chill creeping into his own heart. A triumph of love over cynicism, this stunningly visual piece is a holiday show like nothing you've ever seen before.
Originally commissioned by Serenbe Playhouse.
“Before there was Frozen, there was The Snow Queen,” Cowley College theatre director Nick Albrecht said. “This adaptation of The Snow Queen takes all of the best elements of Hans Christian Andersen’s story and combines them with humor, love, a little bit of magic, and a talking reindeer to make a story for everyone from ages 3 to 100. This show is fun, fast-paced, and has a great message; love conquers all.”
This production is being done by the Act One Drama Club and is being entirely student acted, directed, and designed.
“These students are putting this show together from top to bottom and they’ve been working so incredibly hard to make it the best show they can, especially for our young audience members,” Albrecht said. “We hope the care and thought being put into this show are felt by all who encounter it.”
