Students in Cowley College’s Act One Drama Club are preparing to perform A 1940’s Christmas Carol: A Radio Play, December 3-4 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Robert Brown Theatre.
Director of Theatre Nick Albrecht said this is a unique venture for Act one and the Cowley Theatre Department to perform A 1940’s Christmas Carol: A Radio Play.
“Not only have we never done a staged reading of a play, but we’ve never done a play with live Foley art,” Albrecht said.
Foley is the creation of sound effects live on stage by the actors during the performance, while a staged reading means the cast will maintain their scripts during the performance but will still dramatically interpret the show giving a full performance.
“Radio plays lend themselves quite wonderfully to staged readings and so does this heartwarming comedy,” Albrecht said. “I hope this show will give everyone a chance to get themselves into the holiday season and have a little bit of fun.”
There is no cost to attend the production, but donations are appreciated.
