Queen Alalah LXXXVI Finalists

Anderson looking forward to immersing herself in Arkalalah festivities

Mary AndersonMary Anderson did not grow up in Arkansas City, but it has not stopped her from sharing in the excitement of the annual fall Arkalalah celebration. Anderson will learn all there is to know about Arkalalah after being named one of five finalists for Queen Alalah LXXXVI. Coronation is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 in the Robert Brown Theatre.

Anderson is the daughter of Junior and Carla (deceased) Anderson of Lawton, OK. Her grandmother, Jean McCrory, lives in Sherman, TX.

She graduated from Elgin (OK) High School in 2016. At Elgin, she was involved in basketball, volleyball, track, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, and Future Farmers of America.

Anderson came to Cowley on a track scholarship. She ran track as a freshman and is now a student ambassador, resident assistant at The Lodge Dormitory, and a member of Student Senate.

“Cowley has been great,” Anderson said. “The teachers and people at the school are really friendly.”

As a member of the Lady Tiger track and field team, Anderson competed in the sprint events and the heptathlon. She helped Cowley finish as the conference champions during the 2017 indoor season and place 13th at indoor nationals.

Away from Cowley, the business administration major tutors at Francis Willard Elementary in Arkansas City.

After Cowley, Anderson plans to attend a four-year school and hopes to one day be the CEO of a major corporation.

Anderson is honored to be one of the five candidates for Queen Alalah LXXXVI.


“I am excited to take part in Arkalalah,” Anderson said. “I love this group of girls. They are fun, energetic people.”
