Cowley UpskillU Creates Opportunities for Recent Wichita Aircraft Layoffs
Cowley College is working in collaboration with Air Capital Commitment to focus on providing resources in response to recent Spirit AeroSystems Wichita layoffs and the Boeing 737 MAX production suspension. Our UpskillU 8-week program provides opportunities for those affected to upskill or reskill during the coming months.
We will host informational/enrollment sessions at Cowley’s Wichita Downtown Center on February 5 at 9 AM, 1 PM, and 4 PM.
Cowley will promote all the short term programs, certificates, and industry credentials available in Cowley UpskillU and has established a $20,000 scholarship pool.
What is Upskill?
The world is changing fast and Cowley’s Upskill workforce digital badges are a powerful tool for identifying and validating the rich array of people's skills, knowledge, accomplishments, and competencies. UpskillU’s 8-week completion of workforce digital badges can assist dislocated and laid off employees in upskilling their skill set and gain short-term credentials.
Graduates from the EMT and Fire Science programs have guaranteed job interviews at the conclusion of the course. Many local EMS services and fire departments are actively seeking qualified applicants to fill spots on their rosters.
