PTK Annual Christmas Gathering
Phi Theta Kappa members from the Mulvane Campus were honored to have Major Douglas Rowland, The Salvation Army commander for the city of Wichita, as a guest speaker at their meeting on Monday.
The group met at the home of advisor, Nancy Ayers, for their annual Christmas get together. Major Rowland shared some history of The Salvation Army, which was founded in 1865 in London, and also described the many services that this Christian-based organization offers in the Wichita area. He reported that the requests for assistance are greater than ever, but through generous donations and hundreds of volunteers, the needs are met. The Alpha Gamma Upsilon chapter made the trip to Mulvane well worth the Major's while. All the requests from the Angel Tree at the Mulvane Center were filled which resulted in a mini van full of Christmas cheer for five needy families. Donations included two microwaves, dishes, pots and pans, bath towels, gifts cards, as well as two toys and a new coat for each child. Phi Theta Kappa wishes to express their sincere thanks to the students, faculty and staff at Mulvane who made this project a success.
