Mulvane Math and Science Club BBQ
The Math and Science Club in Mulvane had their end of semester BBQ. They had Black Angus Burgers, Nuerenberger Brats, Pulled Pork, and Sauerkraut. The students enjoyed one more relaxing moment in the sun before jumping into finals week.

Alpha Gamma Upsilon named Five Star Chapter for fifth consecutive year conference

Eight Cowley College students and their faculty advisors attended the Phi Theta Kappa Regional Conference at the Wichita Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, where Cowley’s Alpha Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa was named a Five Star Chapter for the fifth consecutive year. read more

Alpha Gamma Upsilon named a Five-Star Chapter for fifth straight year
Fulfilling all one through four star level requirements, the Alpha Gamma Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Cowley College was recently named a Five-Star Chapter for the fifth straight year. read more
Phi Theta Kappa Application Letters
PTKMulvane Phi Theta Kappa members, Chris Romero and Michael Nguyen, spent several hours stuffing 550 envelopes with letters of invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. The letters were sent out to eligible Cowley Students the first week in February.

PTKThe Phi Theta Kappa group at Mulvane wrapped up its annual Valentine's Sale/ Raffle/ Bake Sale on Valentine's Day after a very successful week. Gift items included everything from fancy chocolates and candy bags for kids to recordable roses and sterling silver and turquoise earrings.  read more

Phi Theta Kappa welcomes new members
ptk Twenty students participated in the 2011-2012 Phi Theta Kappa new member induction ceremony on Sunday, March 4th in the Wright Room of the Brown Center. Over 80 guests shared the special day with their honorees. read more

Cowley College Mulvane Center offering certified Wedding Planner course
Cowley College in conjunction with The Wedding Planning Institute, a division of Lovegevity, Inc., will be offering a Wedding Planner Certification class this spring.
Students will gain experience and practice with application and utilization of business tools, formulas, and presentation methods in the day-to-day activities of wedding planning and understand the role of a professional wedding planner. Course objectives include: Gaining a basic knowledge of the wedding industry; create business contracts, pricing, packages and presentation tools; understand the event planning process necessary to design and deliver a successful wedding/social event; and understand the six stages of event experiences and ways to implement them. read more

Cowley students attend PTK Honors Luncheon
The 17th Annual Kansas All-State Academic Team luncheon was held on Thursday, February 16 at the Ramada Inn in Topeka, KS. This team is made up of two honor student representatives from each attendance center of every community college in Kansas. Representing Cowley College were Hannah Dillard and Patrick Curl from the Arkansas City campus, and Mark Janzen and Michael Fox from the Mulvane Center.
Each member of the Kansas All-Sate Academic Team receives an honorary medallion and certificate, state-wide recognition through the media, a stipend to be used at the institution of his/her choice and a minimum of $1,000 scholarship to any of the state universities and many of the private universities in Kansas. read more

Mulvane Christmas Party At the annual Mulvane Christmas party, Uwe Conrad provided turkey and ham and everyone else brought a side dish or some Christmas goodies. Then we played Dirty Santa, where everybody steals each other's gifts away. Merry Christmas from the staff at the Mulvane Center!!
Mulvane Thanksgiving Meal
Thanksgiving Meal When the smell of roast turkey starts coming from Nancy Ayers' office at the Mulvane Center, you know Thanksgiving is very near. Her office has become the designated "kitchen" where Uwe Conrad sets up his rotisserie oven every year. Chief Conrad's famous turkey is the main course for the annual Thanksgiving feast for Mulvane staff and student workers. Of course, others attending bring all the additional fixin's. This year the Mulvane Center is especially thankful for the addition of Wi-Fi for our staff and students. The staff and students at the Mulvane Center wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.  
Student at Mulvane Center breaks records at Arnold Sports Festival
Michael FoxWhether he is achieving success in the classroom or in the area of powerlifting, Cowley College student Michael Fox strives for excellence.
Fox’s drive and determination have led to his being named to the All-Kansas Academic Team and compiling a 3.96 grade point average at Cowley. The Secondary Education/Physics major graduated from Douglass High School and chose to attend Cowley because he thought it was an inexpensive way to receive a great education. read more

"Commit to Complete" Over 300 Cowley students at the Mulvane Center signed the "Commit to Complete" banner, demonstrating the commitment to finish their associate degrees or certificate programs before leaving Cowley. read more

"Soup for a Buck Day" raises bucks for Big Brothers/Sisters
Soup for a Buck Tuesday was “Soup for a Buck Day” (changed from chicken soup challenge – we had different kinds of soup). The Math and Science Club in Mulvane raised $50.50 for Big Brothers/Sisters by selling all you can eat soup for $1. We served Chicken Noodle Soup (two kinds – one with yoke free noodles). Oven roasted potato soup, turkey and brown rice soup, and eleven bean soup. The winner was Cynthia Jones’s Oven roasted potato soup – it was gone in the first 15 minutes.
PTK members attend the fall Southern District meeting
ptk Members of the Alpha Gamma Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Cowley College traveled to Parsons, KS on Saturday, Sept. 10 to attend the fall Southern District Meeting. read more
Mulvane Center gives back Big to their community

Mulvane Student Ambassadors served Sloppy Joe’s for lunch and dinner on February 7, 2012 to raise money for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  Close to 100 sandwiches were served with chips and cookies.  The Ambassadors, along with students working on their Service Learning Project, got together to host a Bowl For Kid’s Sake event to raise money for Sumner County’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  This event will be held at Derby Bowl on March 10 from 4 – 6 p.m..  read more
Ferret Survey
In late September, Vicky Hilgers, Instructor of ferretBiology on the Mulvane Campus, and two Biology I students, Mel Bingham and Evan Bradley, volunteered with U.S. Fish and Wildlife to survey a population of endangered Black Footed Ferrets in Logan Co., KS. read more
Time out for a cookout
cookout Instructors and staff at the Mulvane Center, working diligently to prepare for the start of classes August 18th, took time to enjoy a cookout. The event was orchestrated by Natural Science instructors Chad Killblane, Uwe Conrad and Nancy Ayers. Juicy burgers were served, along with cake. Others attending the lunch were Cynthia Jones, Mulvane Coordinator, and adjunct instructors Robyn Hill, Debra Dockter, and Daniel Higdon, as well as Mulvane advisors Ali Ybarra and Wes Ross.

The Math and Science Club Third Annual LUAU has come and gone
Thanks to the help of Math and Science Club (newly elected northern officers) Ashley Clark and Dillon Shipman, we raised $115 for the Math and Science Club.

We served pineapple glazed ham, pulled pork and with sides of barbecued beans, banana - pineapple – sweet potato casserole, Hawaiian Cole Slaw and a variety of fresh fruit.
