The Evolution of Gaming

From Atari to arcade games to AI, the history of gaming is a testament to human creativity and innovation. The first video game was created in the computer lab of British professor A. S. Douglas at Cambridge University in 1952. Today, the gaming industry is estimated to be worth $312 billion by 2027 (source Forbes.com). And now, gaming and computer science jobs are available all over the world.

Now that there are so many careers in the video game industry and artificial intelligence, it's no surprise that gaming and computer science began in higher education. In a doctoral thesis, Douglas wrote about human-computer interaction while using cathode-ray tube monitors for the visual interface. It's safe to say that the world he dreamed of actually grew beyond his wildest imagination.

Whether you are a game developer, graphic designer, musician, or a cosmetologist, there are plenty of job openings in the gaming industry. The field of game development and coding has become more diverse than ever before and strong computer skills are required to create an engaging gaming experience.

If you’re looking for a career in professional gaming and coding, there are affordable educational opportunities available to help you develop your computer skills and give you the confidence to follow your passions in this ever-changing industry.
